From Enemy to Friend

Rabbi Amy Eilberg presented this session which looked at traditional Jewish texts and personal narratives that offer wisdom on moving from conflict, distrust and judgment into positive, even loving, relationships—even with those with whom we profoundly disagree. The texts relate to conflicts between individuals, between religions, within the Jewish community, and between Israelis and Palestinians. Participants considered how to cultivate traits of compassion, curiosity, and humility as basic tools for managing and healing conflict.

Rabbi Amy Eilberg works in peace and reconciliation, including interfaith engagement, intra-Jewish conflict, and grassroots Israeli-Palestinian peace building efforts. She is at work on a book on Judaism and peacemaking.
