Check out this great article by Clive Lawton, one of the founders of the original Limmud conference. He writes about how Limmud started in 1980 in Britain when “it was nearly impossible to find learning for adults and the community was deeply divided between the different denominations.”
Limmud helped change that, and now Limmud is a global phenomenon, including our very own Limmud Bay Area.
Last year we had the main Limmud program for grown-ups, and the Camp Limmud program for kids. And this year we’re adding Young Limmud for teens.
Young Limmud will host over seventy high school students, from all around the greater San Francisco Bay Area. Participants will include groups from BBYO (B’nai B’rith Youth Organization) and USY (United Synagogue Youth) as well as teens arriving with their families.
With planned mixers and focus groups as well as a bonfire farewell, Young Limmud aims to provide the magic of Limmud to these budding leaders.

Programming team members hard at work are (L-R) Nechama Tamler, Randi Brenowitz, Elinor Manor, Ellen Bob.
Behind the scenes, our intrepid programming team is making sure that Limmud 2013 will offer a full menu of great sessions for all tastes.
Some of the issues tackled at a recent meeting were:
